How to measure the arch height with a foot scanner

    What is a “high arch”? It sounds grand, but it actually hides risks

    The arch is the beautiful “bridge” in the middle of our foot. Its function is to buffer shocks and disperse pressure, allowing us to walk easily and stand firmly.

    When the arch is much “higher” than normal people, it is called a high arch.

    Such people often only touch the ground with the heel and toes, and the middle is seriously “suspended”. They look very upright, but in fact the force is extremely uneven, which can easily lead to:

    Unsteady walking and easy sprains

    Plantar fasciitis, shin pain

    Chronic knee, hip, lumbar spine problems

    Shoes always feel ill-fitting, and feet are easily tired or numb

    So, how do you judge whether you have a high arch? This is when the foot scanner comes into play!

    How does a foot scanner measure “high arches”? Three steps to identify your foot type password

    foot scanner

    Step 1: Stand barefoot on the scanning platform

    According to the voice prompts, just stand barefoot on the instrument, and the foot scanner will use infrared optical sensing and high-precision cameras to perform all-round 3D modeling and data collection on the sole of the foot.

    Step 2: System analysis of arch height

    The instrument will measure multiple parameters such as your sole contact area, arch bridge height, foot length and width ratio.

    If your arch height is significantly higher than the normal value, the system will automatically mark it as “high arch” or “suspected high arch”.

    Some systems will also use color graphics, and the middle area of the high arch usually presents a large area of “blue” or “blank” – meaning that the arch is so high that it almost does not touch the ground.

    Step 3: Generate a foot type report + personalized suggestions

    The report usually includes foot type, foot size distribution, left and right foot comparison, etc., and recommends suitable insole support solutions, exercise suggestions, or whether further medical intervention is needed based on your arch condition.

    Why is it recommended that you do a foot scan?

    Early detection and early intervention: high arches are not as obvious as flat feet, but they have a greater long-term impact. Scanning can help detect risks early;

    More scientific shoe selection: sports shoes, work shoes, functional shoes… suitable insoles and arch support come from accurate foot shape data;

    Improve posture and sports performance: for runners, dancers, and fitness enthusiasts, scientific foot knowledge can reduce injuries and improve performance;

    Rehabilitation and health management: It is especially important for people with foot problems, back and leg pain, middle-aged and elderly people, or those recovering from surgery.
