What is the function of the plantar pressure testing board?

‌The plantar pressure testing board, simply put, is a board equipped with sensors. When you step on it, it can record in real time the pressure distribution on every part of your foot. Some are even dynamic – as you walk, it records each step’s landing angle, force, and balance status.

What exactly can it measure?

What type of foot shape do you have?

Is it a normal foot, flat foot, or high-arched foot? Traditionally, this is judged by visual inspection or stepping on wet paper, but this device gives you a clear data map.
By looking at the image, you’ll know:

If the middle part is fully touching the ground, that’s flat foot;

If there’s almost no imprint in the middle, it’s most likely high-arched foot.

Where is the pressure on your foot the highest?

Some people have pain in the heel, others in the forefoot. The testing board can tell you which part of your foot bears too much pressure. For example:

High pressure on the forefoot? Your shoes might not fit properly;

High pressure on the outer side? You might have foot eversion;

Uneven pressure? You might be walking off balance.

Do you have problems with your walking gait?

Dynamic testing will reveal it immediately. Many people don’t feel anything wrong while walking, but the test may show:

Gait deviation, unstable center of gravity;

Uneven landing, muscle imbalance between thighs and calves during steps;

Frequent ankle sprains or knee pain, often caused by incorrect walking posture.

How should your insoles be chosen? What is the direction for correction?

Based on the test results, professionals can recommend custom insoles, corrective shoe types, or training methods. Not everyone needs the same insole – some need arch support, others need pressure-relieving pads. It all depends on what this board “finds out about your feet.”

Who should take this test?

People with flat feet or high arches: to understand their foot type and how to improve it;

Those with frequent foot or knee pain: to check if it’s caused by walking or standing posture;

Children with gait issues: such as in-toeing, out-toeing, or ankle eversion – the earlier it’s tested, the earlier it can be corrected;

People who enjoy running or sports: to understand their running posture and prevent sports injuries;

People planning to customize insoles: testing is a must, or else the insoles may be a waste.
