Joint solution of plantar pressure distribution system and 3D foot shape scanning

Plantar Pressure Distribution System

The plantar pressure distribution system is a professional instrument that collects pressure signals from various parts of the sole through a high-density pressure sensor matrix.

The system adopts an array-type pressure sensor component to form a force-measuring plate, with a single-point pressure resolution reaching 0.1 N/cm, covering the biomechanical measurement requirements of 0–100 N/cm.

The standard size of the force-measuring plate is 2000 mm, adapting to stride characteristics of groups with different heights. The sensor units are designed in a miniaturized form of 5×7 mm to achieve high-density distribution, ensuring precise imaging of plantar pressure distribution.

The system realizes its functions through three modules:

  • Data acquisition module: the pressure sensors on the force plate record in real time the pressure values of various sole regions.
  • Signal processing module: analyzes data such as center of gravity, balance, and impulse through software.
  • Data analysis module: by detecting dynamic and static load of the sole of the tested person, discovers gait abnormalities in hip, knee, ankle joints and diseases such as cerebral palsy and diabetes.

3D Foot Shape Scanning Technology

The 3D foot shape scanning system adopts internationally advanced structured light scanning technology, which can accurately and quickly obtain three-dimensional data of the real human foot shape.

The scanning results can be output in various popular file formats to CAD software to generate digital models. The system uses a mechanical turntable control system with closed-loop control, having a volume equivalent to four coins in size, capable of simultaneously controlling 200 servos, with a minimum control accuracy of 0.03 degrees.

The system supports full-weight-bearing and semi-weight-bearing sole scanning. It replaces time-consuming plaster casting and non-standard manual scanning with digital scanning technology, creating digital foot shape and last databases from the scanned data.

Specific Implementation of the Joint Solution

Advantages of the technological combination

  • Comprehensive foot evaluation: 3D scanning provides static foot morphology data, while the pressure distribution system supplements dynamic foot function analysis, achieving multi-dimensional evaluation.
  • Personalized customization: combining morphological data and force analysis allows for tailor-made corrective insoles and shoe designs, optimizing thickness and hardness distribution.
  • Data visualization: integrated data generates 3D foot models superimposed with pressure distribution maps, improving diagnostic efficiency and communication with patients.

Typical workflow

  1. 3D foot scanning: obtain foot model data and related measurement reports using a 3D scanner.
  2. Plantar pressure testing: including static testing, balance testing, and dynamic testing.
  3. Data analysis: doctors or rehabilitation therapists conduct comprehensive analysis of digital reports and provide medical solutions.
  4. Custom design: design corrective insoles and corrective shoes according to measurement data.

Application Scenarios

Medical field

  • Flatfoot/high-arch correction: personalized corrective insoles customized with precise data to improve uneven foot stress.
  • Diabetic foot management: monitor plantar pressure distribution and warn of high-risk ulcer areas.
  • Postoperative rehabilitation evaluation: monitor changes in plantar pressure distribution after subtalar joint fusion and other surgeries.

Sports science

  • Athlete gait analysis: optimize sports performance and reduce sports injuries.
  • Sports shoe design: optimize insole support and shock absorption performance according to foot shape data and pressure distribution.

Footwear customization

  • Personalized insoles: precisely adapt to plantar pressure distribution, solving foot pain and discomfort problems.
