What is a plantar pressure distribution system, and how does it help correct gait?

The plantar pressure distribution system is a specialized detection tool for assessing foot load. It provides quantitative evidence for foot health assessment and gait analysis by measuring the stress distribution of the soles of the feet in various areas during standing, walking or exercise. The system has broad application prospects in sports science, rehabilitation medicine, custom orthotic insole design, diagnosis and treatment of foot diseases.

1.Principle of foot pressure distribution system

The plantar pressure distribution system generally include pressure sensor mat, data acquisition device and analysis software.

pressure sensors, which can use film pressure sensors, capacitive sensors or photoelectric sensors, can detect pressure changes in different areas of the sole in real time.

When a user stands still or walks on a sensor mat, the sensor collects pressure signals and transmits the data to a computer or terminal. The data acquisition device generates heat maps or curve graphs to display the size and distribution of pressure on the heel, arch and front foot. Using visualization data, areas of uneven foot loading, sagging arch, or gait abnormalities can be accurately identified.

2.Application the plantar pressure distribution system gait correction

Gait abnormality analysis

By quantifying the pressure of left foot, right foot, front foot and back foot, the system can identify gait abnormalities such as inside, outside, flat foot and high arch of foot. This is important for athletes, rehabilitation patients, people who are on their feet or walking for long periods of time.

Assist in the design of insoles and orthotic devices

Custom insoles are designed to adjust foot pressure distribution and achieve gait stability. Data from the foot pressure distribution system can guide insole design, accurately identify support points and cushioning areas, improve uneven load distribution, relieve local pressure, and improve gait symmetry.

Prevention of sports injuries

Chronic uneven load increases the risk plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon injury and knee overload. By analyzing the stress distribution system, sports training or rehabilitation programs can target high-pressure areas on the soles of the feet and reduce the likelihood of injury.

Rehabilitation assessment and efficacy monitoring

The system can quantitatively monitor gait recovery in patients postoperative patients or with foot injury. By comparing data on stress distribution at different stages, doctors can make scientific judgments about rehabilitation effectiveness and adjust training or orthotic plans to improve the accuracy of treatment.

3. Usage methods and data interpretation

During use, the subject can stand still or walk dynamically on a pressure sensor mat. The system collects pressure data to generate heat maps or pressure curves, with red areas indicating high pressure and green or blue areas indicating low pressure. By analyzing the pressure distribution of left foot and right foot, front foot and back foot, center of gravity gravity shift trajectory, gait cycle, etc., the balance of foot force and symmetry of gait can be determined, and a targeted correction plans can be put forward.
