Laser Principle and Application of Insole Customization Scanning Instrument——Plantar Scanner

‍A plantar scanner is a core instrument for custom insoles that measures the three-dimensional contour, dimensional data, and morphological characteristics of the sole of the foot.

The plantar scanner is built with high-precision laser transmitting and receiving components.

Currently, the popular laser types on the market include: line laser scanning, point laser scanning, and area laser scanning.


These laser types can capture every contour and dimensional detail of the sole when the human foot is placed stationary or moving slowly.

The scanning accuracy of lasers is usually around 0.5 millimeters.

After scanning the data, the supporting software performs modeling processing and generates a three-dimensional model of the sole, including the length and width of the sole, arch height, heel shape, forefoot thickness, etc.

Optimize the scanning data of special foot shapes to improve the insole adaptability.

4. Application in equipment operation and maintenance
For example, it is applied to standardize the laser emission power, regularly calibrate the scanning accuracy, extend the service life of the equipment, and ensure the consistency and reliability of each scanning data.
